During Missouri's legislative session, few days are more special for me than our annual “Voices of Liberty” Lobby Day. We, the people, Missourians, have a right to be, a right to love, a right to protest, a right to choose, and a right to be free from discrimination.
That’s exactly what the 150 advocates for civil liberties who descended on the Missouri State Capitol on March 13 told their elected officials. Our advocates had a mission: to stand up for the rights of their fellow Missourians. They were brave and authentic. They were willing to have tough conversations with legislators. And they changed minds and hearts.
Our lobby day participants met legislators who didn’t realize they support some of our issues until they talked to people like you, defenders of the rights of all Missourians. People are watching the decisions made in Jefferson City. Each one of the advocates who came will hold their elected officials accountable for ending racial profiling, halting discrimination against our queer neighbors, and updating our laws to be smart on criminal justice.
We’re asking everyone who participated in our lobby day to take some next steps. And we’re asking you to join us in this commitment. Missouri needs more defenders of rights than ever before.
Join us in defending the civil liberties of your friends, family and neighbors here in Missouri.
