ST. LOUIS, June 15, 2007 - The membership of the American Civil Liberties Union of Eastern Missouri (ACLU-EM) elected Thomas Blumenthal to serve as president of the organization’s board of trustees.Blumenthal succeeds Ray Hartmann, who served as president for two years and remains on the board of directors.Board members and officers were elected during the ACLU-EM annual membership meeting held on June 9, 2007.

Mr. Blumenthal is a principal in the law firm of Paule, Camazine & Blumenthal, P.C.He previously served as president of the board of trustees for ACLU-EM.He was the ACLU cooperating attorney in the case of Reproduction Health Services vs. Webster, which made it to the United States Supreme Court.He is currently the ACLU-EM cooperating attorney in Roe v. Crawford, a challenge to Missouri’s ban on prisoner abortions, now pending before The Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.
