“Senate Bill 388 pretends to ban a practice that simply does not exist. It is not about women’s health.
SB 388’s purpose is to spread lies to alarm the general public and to shame a woman who chooses not to carry her pregnancy to term.
The ACLU will not testify today on SB 388. We will not dignify intentional misinformation about abortion.
The legislative process should never be hijacked by a scheme to gain political points at the expense of women. The ACLU will not participate in sham debates about unscientific, misguided measures without compassion for Missouri’s families.
The General Assembly’s focus must be on passing genuine legislation to improve the lives of Missourians."
