We are extremely disappointed that the Missouri Senate chose to pass SB 5 today.
“Politicians in Missouri continue to disregard the constitution and the law by trying to legislate a woman’s personal decisions,” said Sara Baker, legislative and policy director of the ACLU of Missouri. “We will continue to fight for a woman’s fundamental right to have an abortion -- which should be accessible no matter what state she lives in.”
This attack on Missouri’s women is in direct conflict with the will of the people.
When politics restricts access to abortion, the harm falls hardest on low-income women, women of color, and young women – the people who are the most vulnerable.
The ACLU of Missouri will continue to fight for the rights of all Missouri women.
