Brittany Hughes joined the ACLU of Missouri in March 2025 and currently serves as the Community Organizer.
Originally from Aliceville, Alabama, Brittany moved to St. Louis in elementary school and graduated from Parkway South High. Her passion for this work is derived from her love of Black folks and the desire to make material the conditions that allow them to thrive and grow old in a world that wants to make them ancestors early.
Some of her previous work includes helping organizers build base-building programs through deep canvassing, congregational organizing around the issues of immigration, housing, and education, and national organizing around sheriff accountability. She was also the recipient of the Missourian's 2021 Progress in Social Justice award.
When she isn’t working, Brittany enjoys a good book, cooking, music, and pretending to be a mixologist.
