The ACLU of Missouri is pleased with today’s Western District Court of Appeals decision on sex stereotypes in employment discrimination.

The ACLU filed an amicus curiae brief in favor of Harold Lampley and Rene Frost, employees claiming sex discrimination in this case.

“This decision recognizes for the first time that Missouri law prohibits employment discrimination on the basis of an employee’s failure to conform to sex-based stereotypes,” said Tony Rothert, legal director, ACLU of Missouri. “This decision brings Missouri in line with federal employment law and the legal protections offered in most states.”
