Kansas City, MO - In 2016, the ACLU of Missouri filed a Sunshine Law suit against the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) and the McDonald County Prosecuting Attorney for failing to release public records related to the 1994 shooting of Corporal Bobbie J. Harper, an MSHP Trooper. Today, the family will finally receive access to previously withheld records in the possession of MSHP.

This gathering was special. But then again, so were all of them. From Thursday to Sunday, July 18-20, the Trans Leadership Table ‘19 gathered for the last time to learn, grow and network. Studying legislative strategy, updating headshots, and even receiving media training from a former TV reporter -- this is just a short list of what this group of 15 Trans and Gender Non-Conforming (GNC) leaders experienced together over the course of a year and multiple gatherings. What members of the Trans Leadership Table 2019 accomplished that time has created a powerful foundation for work to come.

ACLU Win Affirmed, But Ashcroft Continues to Prevent Vote

Today, the Missouri Supreme Court let stand the Court of Appeals holding that Secretary of State Ashcroft acted outside his legal authority by rejecting the referendum petition on Missouri’s abortion ban. This recognition that Ashcroft acted illegally should prevent him from ever again abusing his office to derail the people’s right to challenge legislation by referendum.
