In these last days of the legislative session, we are pushing hard to prevent some terrible legislation. Please help us get the word out so you and your social networks can join our efforts.
On Tuesday, StandTogether.org, a new national campaign the ACLU is doing with Planned Parenthood, released this humorous video in Missouri, which shows exactly why politicians shouldn’t be making reproductive health care decisions for a woman and her family.
The video, which features comedian Joe Garden, coincides with the final stretch of the Missouri legislative session, where more than two dozen bills have been filed to restrict women’s reproductive health care. Some of the extreme provisions of these bills include:
- Tripling the waiting period for an abortion, making Missouri join two other states in having the longest forced waiting period in the country.
- Allowing health care providers to use their religious beliefs to deny a woman needed medical care.
Please feel free to share the video, and the following sample social media message, with your contacts or Twitter followers. And while the video is funny, forcing a woman to wait for the care she needs or allowing health care professionals to refuse to provide health care, potentially jeopardizing a woman’s health, is decidedly serious.
Today, we are conducting a phone-call bank to urge advocates to contact a select group of Missouri state senators or the Senate President’s office to ask them to vote against these extreme bills. Please encourage your friends to call 877-304-0816.
Please Take Action Now
The Senate can take this bill up for a vote at any time. They must hear from Missourians now!
