As we start a new year, we wanted to take a look back at the stories we posted on Facebook about our work that got you ready to #resist.

5.

When #MoLeg passed the distinctly anti-choice Senate Bill 5 in the abortion-focused special session. Politicians used abortion access for political gain when they passed the restrictive SB5. You got mad. We did, too. This attack on Missouri’s women is in direct conflict with the will of the people. When politics restricts access to abortion, the harm falls hardest on low-income women, women of color, and young women. That’s why we partnered up with Planned Parenthood to sue. (We’ll continue to fight for a woman’s fundamental right to have an abortion in 2018 -- which should be accessible no matter what state a person lives in.)

Here’s what to watch in 2018: We’ve taken this issue to court. We filed a lawsuit with Planned Parenthood and ACLU National. Keep an eye out for news about this litigation.

4.

Braving frigid January temperatures to march for women’s lives all across Missouri. We saw you. Thousands of women in Columbia, Kansas City, St. Louis and Springfield took to the streets to show that they were there to stand for women’s rights and the rights of all Missourians. We were proud to grab back with you.

Here’s what to watch in 2018: Join us at our Voices of Liberty Lobby Day! Stand with fellow Missourians to tell elected officials what’s important to you.

3.

Missouri’s politicians passed discriminatory Senate Bill 43 at the price of putting hard-working Missourians at risk for discrimination because of who they are or what they believe.

You cried out on social media. We are outraged, too. The law rolls back discrimination protections for women, people of color and religious minorities. SB 43 protects workplace abusers and punishes victims of sexual harassment and discrimination by leaving them open to retaliation.

Here’s what to watch in 2018: Urge for your elected official to vote for MONA – the Missouri Non-Discrimination Act. It’s been proposed for nearly 20 years in the Missouri Legislature. It’s time to act.

2.

No Muslim Ban. Not now. Not ever. You commented and shared our video of our lead organizer, Mustafa Abdullah, galvanizing a St. Louis crowd rallying against the Trump administration’s Muslim ban. "So long as we have enough people in this country willing to fight for their rights, we'll be called a democracy,” he said, echoing the words of ACLU founder Roger Baldwin.

Here’s what to watch in 2018: We’ve taken this issue to court. We’ve filed suit about the Muslim Ban. Another way to help immigrants is by supporting DREAMers and urging U.S. Congress to pass a clean Dream Act now.

St. Louis’ Stockley Verdict Protests. You tweeted and commented on our letters to elected officials and shared news of our lawsuit. We’re working to protect the rights of anyone who chooses to express their First Amendment freedoms in the city of St. Louis.

Here’s what to watch in 2018: We have until February to reach an agreement with the city of St. Louis in mediation, or the lawsuit could continue. Stay tuned.

A new year brings new challenges. We’re here to defend the rights of all Missourians in 2018 – and beyond. Keep fighting with us.
